We picked up a Presa from a local shelter several weeks ago. He's a wonderful and sweet boy. After a check up, it was determined that he has a very old cruciate tear that went without treatment. He's severely arthritic because of it. The vets advised a TPLO or a TTA to better align the knee. He also has a tumor that will be removed next week.

We're very fortunate to have a clinic with an experienced surgeon who does these procedures at a very reduced price and will allow rescue to pay out the bill over 3 months. That's where we're at now... the fundraising to pay for Rudy's surgery.

Rudy did have his knee surgery and everything went well. His recovery is going very smoothly, other than him hating being kenneled 24/7. Rudy has a wonderful home waiting for him, once he's fully recovered!

I absolutely hate asking for donations, but seeing that Liz has just started up Presa Rescue, we do not have ANY funds for this kind of expense. Rudy's charges were just under $1500. If you can donate even $5, that is extremely helpful! Payments can be made directly to the clinic listed below. Please make sure and make note that it is for Presa Canario Rescue and the dog Rudy.

Just wanted to send an update on Rudy. We got the pathology report back on his tumor that was removed. It was a cancerous tumor but the good news is that the report shows it was completely excised and had clean margins. The tumor was a Mast Cell tumor Grade II.

Rudy had his recheck from his surgery and is healing great. He's scheduled to go to his new home at the end of the month.

Mandie
