Hello All,

I am new to the forum and had a question to pose. I have a 9 week old pup and his one of his tisticles has not dropped yet. Is there anything that can be done to assist this in happening? The breeder stands by his dogs and has no problem replacing the dog if it doesn't come down, but I would prefer not to have to do that if possible. I thought that I would check with the knowledge base here to see if there is any remedy to this problem.

Thank you for any advice.

I may be wrong but I dont think there nuts fully drop at 2mo and 1wk. Im trying really hard to remember... BUt I dont think its a problem at nine weeks. Keep a watchful eye on it!

There are several things the vets can do; one giving the pup some testosterone shots which do help mother nature get "those boys" in position. Keep a eye on this situation because if both have not dropped when the ring closes (about 5 mos.) you are out of luck......most pups don't have a problem; some are just slower than others.....

Thank you for the insight Cathy. It is good to know that there is a window of opportunity for this that has to be watched. I will mention the shot to my vet as well to see if she is aware of this procedure.

Thanks again

Typical blue heeler ears do not stand up until 4-5 months of age. Maybe he is an early bloomer and one ear is just not developed enough and dropped back down.

Of course there are possible diseases that can effect the ear and cause the problem as well. If you have an appointment with your vet soon for shots or check-up, ask him to look at them.

The cartilage is so flexible, it's probably not from playing with the dachshund. You should see and feel a definite notch and/or deformity in the ear if that were the case.

one way to help them drop , is to sweat them down. Keep puppy crated & turn up the heat, always use common sense as well. I have seen this work on many puppies , of mny breeds.

I visited my new baby girl again yesterday. She is now just over 6 weeks old and she still seems to be shy.

She is from a large litter of wiggly, happy babies that all rush over and give tons and tons of kisses. She's one of the bigger pups and appears to be very healthy and happy. She's just not overly exicted to kiss/cuddle with people other than the breeder.

When the breeder takes them all out of the puppy cage, while the others were running over to greet, kiss and lick me, she ran over to the big dog bed by herself and then she ran into the other room to play on her own.

When I played with her she would jump around but then look sort of embarrassed - like doesn't quite know what to do It's cute that she's bashfull but I don't want a puppy that's going to have behavior issues when she's larger and I've always heard not to pick the puppy in the litter that appears shy or non-sociable. Is this true?

My puppy has a sudden pea sized lump on his shoulder/neck area today. He did not have it earlier today. He has been playing all day with another puppy.. innocent play... and hade his last set of vaccination shots a week and a half ago... should I be concerned? It is kinda movable.. and painless for him.

It is probably from the vaccination...sometimes they go away and sometimes not...just watch it really nothing you can do. My vet recommends Thuja to lessen the side effects....

I like puppies, if you have puppy than take care of right way, take it a enough space for play and teach it some habits, take care of puppy's food, healthy puppies can grow quick after birth.
