Canadian Thanksgiving anyway. :) Link is a Dutch Shepherd female. Her ears aren't standing on their own just yet, only for a few seconds at a time. So I helped them for some pictures. She was born July 12th. Enjoy the mutts :)

Happy thanksgiving to you too!

Beautiful pictures, your dogs are absolutely gorgeous. What model is your camera? I see its a Nikon... but it doesn't look quite like my D80 and it looks too small to be a D200.

I can see the lack of a mask really detracts from Hemi's expression, lol. Where is she from? And what about the shepherd, what are your plans for her and where did you get her? She's FCI bloodlines, not KNPV, correct?

I can see it now.. they become a very bad influence on each other... Hemi becomes a Mal/Dutch Sheperd level prey Monster and Link starts to try to catch bulls...

or it probably won't matter since the camera is in the picture :) unless it's a sneaky shot of the huge mirror image with mirror set in the middle of the park. what else them canadians can think of to do with all their tax money :)

Meredit- the Link thingy :) is totally adorable. Hemi isn't looking bad either :) :)

I thought that some of the pictures would have been taken by her since she had her camera... but you're right, that... somehow... slipped past me. Embarressing.

I've been wondering what would happen if you stuck a shepherd pup in a bulldog litter and vice versa when they were newborn. Meredith will have to give some insight in a few months...

That is very interesting. I was wondering and thinking about exactly that at lunch. I think Ill see if I can try that in the next year or so.

Alexandra - Thank you so much for the nice words. My camera is a Nikon N80, a primitive film camera :D The posted photos were taken with a Nikon D80. I like to have hard copies of my pictures and I'm too lazy to mess with digitals and then get them printed, so I just do the film thing... and I love it! The nice thing too is that my camera, battery pack grip, nice Tamron lens, 2 speedlights, macro kit, big Lowepro bag, lightmeter, ETC... cost me less than $500, which is really reasonable for such a camera which gives such wonderful results.

Anyway, enough blabbing about my camera. Hemi is my wonderful Curto line female :D and Link is... well, who knows. I honestly cannot tell you what lines she comes from. She came from a hog farm owned by farmers who brought the female with them from the Netherlands when they immigrated here a couple years back. The male was another farmer's Malinois, but when a Mal and DS are bred, the fawns in the litter are considered Mals, while the brindles are considered DS. There were two fawns, the rest different shades of brindle. The mother had such a great temperament that we decided to give one of the pups a try.

So far... to be honest, she actually acts more mellow than Hemi did as a puppy! She has her moments of energy, but she is very laid back, very sweet, and loves to be loved on. She will play with Hemi endlessly though, and chase her without tiring out. So, she seems to have stamina, but in our home she is very quiet. She is definitely intelligent, and has excellent food drive, which is making her obedience easy. I don't have any official plans for her at the moment except to make her a good obedient girl. If that fails, I'll make her in to a dark brindle costume for Hemi ;)

Dennis, funny you mention her making Hemi in to the prey monster... Hemi already IS the prey monster!! And the food drive monster. I need to get some pictures of her that show her muscles, but it's hard with the brindles.

Anyway, this is a long rant, time to cut it off here!!! I get excited when I get more than 2 replies I guess, haha!

I have no doubt relative to other Presa's Hemi is a prey monster and food driven. I have one of those too:)... put Ill have to take a few vids of a young Mal that is off the charts.. about a 2 months ago I wish I had taken a vid of a little 3 month old Mal, going through distractions, totally focused biting a leg sleeve.

really nice pics! Do you have them separated at times while Link is young or is she already lookin to you for the fun? Again nice shots.

My D80 cost me $1200 a few months ago... I am so used to digitals I hadn't even thought about a film camera, but damn, that's a LOT cheaper.

Brilliant. When I saw her I thought she didn't look scrawny enough to be the malinois type, I thought she would be the "pure" FCI dutch shepherd, they look a bit blockier then a malinois type, I think. I will admit I am green with envy of your dogs. I love my shepherd types... I have a German, sometimes I wish I went with the Dutch... maybe a cross. And then you have that beautiful Presa. And how old is Hemi?
