I have been noticing ticks on all 3 of my dogs, at one time i pulled like 5 ticks off 1 dog! I have never really had a tick problem before. My yard is nothing but dirt/dust (extremely loose dusty dirt/sand type stuff) all i have in the yard is 3 dog houses and a trailer. I think we got the ticks from a friends house, i stayed there a while with my female and she got ticks there. I removed them all but now im finding ticks on all 3 dogs, several months later. anyways i dont know where these ticks can be hiding, Im guessing they laid eggs on the dogs? I thought they had to have bushes around and stuff, they can be just living in dirt? how do i get rid of them for good?

Hit all 3 dogs with a good tick treatment like frontline, if you do all the 3 dogs at the same time and there is no other live stock on the property then the ticks will have nowhere to go, i.e. no host………….well nearly no where to go!............don’t forget to check behind your ears!!! lol. :)

Ticks will clime up on enything and wait for a warm opject to jump down on.
If they carry Borelia it can course a serious illness. So you have to get them of with in 24 hours. If you self get a red ring around a tick wound you have to
get antibiotics asap.

i was just thinking that even if i treated all 3 of them at once, they could get a reinfestation from ticks living in the yard. I guess the best thing to do would treat the yard, and the dogs at once to get rid of them once and for all. from there they should be good im guessing. anyone know of some good safe stuff to treat the yard?

You might want to try Sevin dust for your yard. You can google it for a lot of information on using it.
Definitely treat your dogs with a good product like Frontline.
Alternatively, you can get a few guinea hens. They eat a ton of ticks and particularly love them for some reason.

I would go with Vectra or Advantix. Seeing more resistance to Frontline lately (esp in the flea dept).
Ticks do not lay eggs on the dogs. If you have ticks on the dogs they all got them from the environment, not from each other.
