My friend and neighbor is really interested in getting an adult male for home protection. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go?

Well its not hard Ive seen a couple of "adult" Presa Canario's on some rescue sites. But is he looking for a male, already trained in PP Presa Canario? That would be hard to find! But just look at websites such as hoobly or one of those sites. I think personally your friend should just look for another type of breed that's really common in the PP world, because while Presas are great protection dogs, I believe that there are few and far between those who "train" their dog for PP. But hey try Redstar if your friend really wants an adult presa!

Forgive my question, but "really interested in an adult male for home protection" has me concerned. Any threats?

A bat????
Use a shotgun and eliminate the problem for the rest of us. Plus is saves on future medical and litigation expenses, dead criminals are cheaper all the way around.
My opinion,

Just make sure they fall in the house and stay in the house or drag them back into the house.... don't leave a trail of blood if you have to drag them back in the house....;)

I get really scared when those little girls in the green uniforms come to my door and try to sell me cookies..............Had two come to my door, one was the "spokes" person. I told her I did not want to buy any cookies. She kicked me in the shin and her head starting turning 360's as she chanted "buy or die" Satan will take you to hell. The other one levitated and was looking down on me with an evil scowl.
I have 3 cases of Thin Mints still left........
It use to be they would just look all cute then if you said "no" they would look all sad or cry, and guilt you into a purchase....they have now gone to the dark side.....

LOL!!!...i live in ontario, don't forget...here you have to go through hell to just get a gun license...plus, the higher powers that be are trying to flat out ban handguns.....so bats are pretty much as good as it gets :p

Suggestion since the pistol or rifle thing is difficult: Crossbow with a night sight......SBD

It's a part of the city where we live where one could, err, get a home protection device of that nature...of course then, LOL, there would likely be a few consequences...

So you live in "Jane and Finch" and Darianna lives somewhere where she would rather not go into "Jane and Finch"
Is this an 'other side of the tracks" story?
Are there uptown Presa's and downtown Presa's? ;)

Crossbows are prohibited also.

If I had to play a word-association game with Jane&Finch, things that would come to mind are crime, danger, bad neighbourhood, shootings, gangs, always in the news, etc...obviously, there are good people that live there, but that neighbourhood (vicinity around that intersection) is associated with crime.
I live in the urban sprawl outide of Toronto (still part of the "greater toronto area")...so that neighbourhood is way out of my way...and as a sheltered suburbanite, I'd rather avoid that part of town :o

sheltered suburbanite,
Ill just call you Princess.... wait on second thought, women in Canada must have to get tough or die if they cannot have pepper spray!!!

Okay, I'll be a little more detailed....
I have lived in the Heights (oldest neighborhood in Houston) for 4 years now with no problems or break-ins. My friend lives 2 streets down and has had 2 break-ins in the last 5 weeks. Cops don't care and their inside yellow lab probably just licked them. My friend (Luke) is a fire fighter and has a couple roommates that are also good friends. On the side, they have a roofing and renovation company (great timing after the hurricane). However, in their daily routines, they are often away from home and this allowed people to steal. They have valuable equipment outside that is also easy to steal if someone has the right equipment.
Luke has been stayed at my house in my absence several times to take care of my dogs, etc. and has seen the presence my Presa commands. Anyone gets near my front gate and she goes ballistic. Most people don't even come within 10' of the gate and mostly stare in awe. Being an old neighborhood, the houses are very close and this alarms the neighbors to either call the cops or me if someone is disturbing my property.
Puma (my Presa) is not trained for PP, but is mostly a pet and guardian of my property and of me when on my ranch (ranch is close to Mexico with illegals and hogs,etc.). That's what I bought her for and she does a great job. I have plenty of guns to take care of the threat, but Puma is a great alarm that doesn't need batteries or programming. Luke has guns too, but wants what I have (immediately) and he really likes Puma. Not only is she a great guardian, but a real sweetheart once I tell her someone is okay.
Now does anyone have any suggestions or links to an adult male Presa?

Several of the dogs are too much of a legal liability for the Rescue to place due to aggression issues. If that is really what your friend is looking for, then I suggest that he contact the shelters posting the dogs listed on here.

Not to go off topic but isn't this the same Romeo that Ikonangel was trying to say was or should be a presa when it clearly isn't?
Now he is up for adoption:

Is this the same dog that was owned by this poster:

I don't see any old pictures on this board anymore, but I'm sure it is.
Interesting,

The one that clearly looks like a Dogue de Bordeaux mix and the owner insisted was full Presa?
If that is the case, yes. At 7 years she decided he was too much for her to handle. Rescue repeatedly refused to take him due to aggression issues, and that he is clearly not a Presa despite the former owners insistence he is.
