Hi, thy name is Roger. I currently own a 6 month old presa (Murphy) which I have owned for about 3 months. I picked him up from a local breeder (capresas.com) in the Los Angeles County. He's a really great dog. He's been eating raw food since he's stopped receiving milk from his mother, and has been eating raw until now. I just purchased EVO kibble from Innova (http://evopet.com/products/default.asp?id=1485), and had a question, I would like to hear from anyone or everyone here about feeding him adult food at his age, also about cropping his ears i've been meaning to get around to it, well the time is now and need some advice on it. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. Cheers!

evo too rich for large breed pup, will accelerate growth which is not good for joints. switch to innova large breed instead for slow and steady growth

Evo is not recommended for large breed dogs under one year per the manufacturer.

Good luck finding a vet who will crop ears at this age; you also have the potential of them not standing after cropped. I heard cropping vets are VERY expensive in LA area.

Not sure where in LA you are but try Pasternak's just off Sepulveda and Santa Monica Blvd. Henry uses medical and natural approaches and I have personally seen people march very sick dogs through his doors and he was able to help them when other vets couldn't. I used to volunteer there as a dog walker in my free time, and witnessed a lot of good things there. One case involved a dogo argentino and my god that dog was sick initially...but he was able to help. If I was still in LA and had a dog I would definitely get a relationship going with Pasternak. Not sure about the crop, but if he can't just ask his techs (should still be Brian, Mike, Robert, and maybe Flo...) and they will point you if it's even possible/smart to do at this stage for your dog. I think Robert has at least three if not four pits and all are cropped, so he would be a good source. If you go just say a friend who used to help out with Karma Rescue referred you, because Karma spends a small fortune there and that much will at least get you some information once you are inside the door. Or, just call and ask, that may work too. I'll scratch my brain a bit more, check back in if this doesn't help.

Your pup should be eating adult food, but NOT EVO! I agree I think you missed the boat on the ear crop. From the makers of EVO

Thank you for contacting us about our products. The Innova EVO is balanced for all life stages, and therefore can be fed to puppies that are not large breeds. Our studies showed that puppies, in general, were developing 50% faster when eating the Innova EVO than when they were eating our regular Innova Puppy formula.

Here is an excerpt from a letter our Vice President, co-founder, and nutritionist Peter Atkins wrote that might help to further define the Innova EVO and large breed puppies/dogs:

Q. Is EVO Dog Food appropriate to feed to my large breed puppy?

A. No. There are specific products which are intentionally designed for the proper nutritional support of growing puppies with projected mature weights in excess of 60 lbs. EVO was not designed for this purpose.

Q. Can I feed EVO Dog Food to my Adult or Senior Large Breed Dog?

A. Yes. Feeding EVO Dog Food to your adult large breed dog can work very nicely.

If you're in Lynwood, that's not too far at all from Pasternak's. Telling ya, get over there for a consult and start a relationship. He is an arrogant ass half the time, and he knows it, but he would cut off an arm to save a dog. He really does care about your pets, and again, I have seen some pretty sick looking dogs pull through, and this is after doctoring elsewhere to no avail. He is natural and medical, both.

Yea, thanks for the heads up but my dog isnt sick, I will definitely consider taking him for anything next time. I called the place and spoke to mike they don't crop ears there, nor they didn't know of any place they'd recommend. Any suggestions about the dog food I have left!? Thanks

Absolutely yes, as I recall the shelters in LA that I went to during rescue could always use that, and blankets...South LA is probably the closest to you. There is another, Doctor Bernstein, down off Manchester near LAX but forgive me as I cannot recall whether he sees emergency/specialty or would look at something like ear cropping. As I recall we took sick puppies there, so he may just see those types of cases but it's worth a try. At this point others have suggested that you may have missed the boat, and one being a great vet herself I would take that and just leave the ears personally, or, hey, call Berstein's office and at least talk about it.
