So, as I buy more stuff for the upcoming pup, I have a newbie question. Can I just buy the large chew toys, the same size he would use as an adult, or should I buy a smaller one and get a bigger one as he grow??

Also, does this matter for the doggie bed too? Can I just put the pup in the large one, I am getting to get 2, one for the crate (in my room upstairs) and one for the downstairs. (I promise I will be careful with the pup and the stairs)

The first bedding you put in his crate will likely get eaten, peed and pooped on. I would through some towels in there, personally, until he is older. They will be much easier to throw in the wash.

If your pup starts using his crate to relieve himself in, Kiro.... you're leaving him in there too long. That can be a very hard habit to break if it starts. Don't expect so much that you put him in there when you go to work for 8 hours. When I had a real job ;) I would section a spot off and paper it when I went to work. I didn't crate during the day until probably around 4 months old, and then I would head home at noon to let him out, but I know that isn't always possible.....
Personally, I've never been able to use any kind of bedding when they are young because it quickly becomes a toy. And of course when they're older, you don't need the crate :) , but my GSD still uses hers (on her own), so I leave it on the porch where it's cooler for her.

And buy your toys big, he'll still play with them and won't outgrow them... if they last that long :D

Justin I wouldn't even put any bedding down in his crate right away they really don't need it. I have seen quite a few pups and dogs eat the bedding and get all blocked up and most of them die. So I feel that its better off sleeping on a hard surface than getting blocked up my pup is 10months and he still doesn't get anything to sleep on unless I am there with him to keep him from chewing on it.

i agree. most bedding will get chewed up eventually, which is concerning if you arent there to monitor your dog after he eats whatever was in his crate.

i use a peice of plywood cut just about 1/2 inch shorter than the crate dimensions and wrap it in carpet. you can get scrap carpet from any flooring store, simetimes for free. it takes a lot of effort to get to the carpet to chew on because the seam is on the underside of the plywood. cheap, washable, and replaceable.
