Does they have some Iberican dogs in pedigree?

Honest question here. When somebody says "Nice dogos" what are they really talking about? I have read time and time again that Presas and Dogos are the same breed, but I have checked some breeder sites, and there does seem to be a difference. I am no expert, but the FCI dogs (the dogos) look squatier to me - lower to the ground. Is this what you were talking about in your comment about these dogs, because I noticed that about them (a couple of them anyway). If not, then what were you talking about?

Please read this article and find the Presa Canario, look at the distances and angles and you will see very little in common with short legged, wide stanced, barrel chested dogs. The Dogo Canario is the result of conformation breeding not breeding for function. We wish to preserve the Presa Canario as a FUNCTIONAL dog.

:) A answer to a few questions, the dogs are of an Urco/Verdgo bloodlines.Far doing work with them the owner just enjoy them for a home protector. He leaves all the work stuff to everyone else ;) .This memeber of Outcast loves them for what they are and thats what is all about :ok: .

Wow  That's TERRIBLE!
These "performance" Presa's are terribly straight in the stifle. How the hell to you expect these dogs to hold up physically over time? Think of the legs as the suspension system on a car. If that's no good, then the whole frame is affected by it! And what's w/ those barrel chests?? I didn't know that was in the breed standard(s)?

Gorgeous heads, a little too much jowels for my liking in a working Presa, but hey, what ever floats your boat. I guess someone has gotta buy these puppies? Hopefully they won't be over priced and they'll come w/ a great health guarantee!

Why did you bump a thread from Wed Jul 27, 2005, just to say that?

Unfortunately, these dogs lack the true Presa appearance in my opinion. When I pay particular attention to their expression I do not see the Presa as I know it.

u could be right LawrenceandHaney it doesnt look like a pitbull cross that you might be use to seeing :ok: Why did you bump a thread from Wed Jul 27, 2005, just to say that? i agree

Not sure what you are implying about Pit Crosses... I don't own any. These dogs just don't look good in my opinion.

I didn't "bump" any thread. If you mean why did I post a response to an older post on an older thread? Because I just became aware of this threads existence the day that I posted. Is that okay? NO I don't breed Presas, just know a good phenotype when I see it and I was told by another web site that I "really should go see this "breeder" who thinks he has something fabulous on ElPresa.com!"'. :D

Nothing impressive on this thread and I know that there are people that belong to this forum that actually have something that is a good breed rep...this just isn't one of them and shouldn't (IMO) be encouraged.

Here are a few good dogs that have made a positive ripple in the gene pool for Presas. You should see the following in all three of these dogs even though they vary slightly in type, they still all fit the standard and WORK!

Not like this guy that posted pictures of his "new and up and coming" Uber Presas.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for new breeders, but they should have enough ethics to fit and breed to the standards put into place to maintain that look that only Presas posses! Not like these...things. So disproportionate in structure. Reminds me of what the AKC German Shepherd looks like compared to the SV German Shepherd! HUGE difference! :P [/img]
