Hi Butch,
I am new to the list but I love your forum. I have a 5yro female AmstaffEngBull mix (wifes dog) and my puppy a 4.5mo male Presa. When I brought him home at 6weeks she hated him, actually grabbing him twice. I kept them separated for a while with scheduled, supervised socialization. They get along well now with few incidents, I still keep them separated when alone.Neither are crate trained. My problem is my female is very food aggressive now but never was before. She was raised with a large amstaff (may he rest in peace) and my inlaws have a 1yro lab.both males. Never a problem. Now when it comes to food or treats she`s right on him, and sometimes the usually complacent lab jumps in. I handle it by jumping in and pulling the two off and holding them down, with a harsh no and eye contact till they look away. Its seems to be lessening now that he`s bigger than her. My fear is that this will happen when I`m not home, or the dogs are with my wife. The puppy takes it in stride, it doesn`t phase him in the least and he has no fear at all of either dogs. I take him everywhere and socialize him with friends dogs. He takes his treats and toys and teases other dogs to get into a tug, still very playfull. My question is am I handling the squabbles correctly and how much is this imprinting on the puppy. Any suggestions welcome and appreciated.

Thanks
