Yeah, I'm back, I wanted to extend the opportunity to some of the people who own Presas and are looking to work their dogs to attend a seminar by Shane Carter of Owner's First K9 Services of Scottsdale, Arizona. Shane is a good friend of mine who breeds American Bulldogs and is talented in training bully and molossor breeds. I am in the process of planning this and was just trying to get an estimate of how many people were interested in coming. We have already come up with a couple of topics like working a flirt pole, bringing out drives, etc and also he will be doing problem solving with anyone who would like to work out problems they are having in the training and also He is going to be speaking about Ring sport and how to train for it. I am thinking that so far this will be a two day event and will be held on a weekend. Date is still being planned out. If you are interested in coming and have some topics that you would like to see discussed, please email me and let me know what you would like to have done while he is down. If there is a lot of interest and we need more time, I will plan accordingly. Mainly this would be a good opportunity for a lot of people to start getting their dogs on the road to more working events and also winning those working events. Email me with questions or concerns. Also Shane's information can be viewed on his website at http://www.ownersfirstk9.com/
Thanks

I am still concerned about how to introduce my dog into our new household. If he has any info on animal aggression and how to curb it that would be great. I live in Kansas and would love to go to an event where Hooligan would be more understood and maybe I could get some help on how to keep him as a member as our family.

The date has been set for this seminar. We will mainly talk about using the flirt pole, spring pole, etc to build drive and also Shane will do one on one problem solving. Not to mention we will probably do some stuff about getting dogs to competition levels. Anyhow It's $50 for the weekend. If you are interested please let me as we will only be taking 10 reservations for this seminar so that we can get a lot done on an individual basis. Shane Carter also will be bringing down some itmes that can be purchased that will help you with the training of your dog. So bring extra money in case you would like to purchase things. I can give you hotel information to those that will be traveling and just to warn you I already have 6 reservations so far. If you would like more information or would like to contact Shane his website is at www.ownersfirstk9.com , His contact information is on his site and also there is a list of items that he has for sale there. He has some pretty neat items that he just came out with that are excellent for building drive in molossor and bull breeds. Any questions can be directed to me or Shane Carter and we hope that whomever can attend will attend to learn more about how to correctly train you molossor/bull breed. This seminar will be held in Topeka, KS and will be inside. If possible bring crates to house your dogs, and if not, we will have a limited amount of space to house dogs in the kennel.
Thanks

I would love to come to the seminar. How do I register? I live in Kansas city so I would not need a hotel reservation. Do I need to pay before I am registered? I hope I can attend. Look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached at (913) 766-1733 or you can e-mail me. Bullypets@gohip.com. -Judy

NO need to send any money, just bring it with you to the seminar, I will try to give you a call here in a couple days to finish up the details, like what to bring, etc. Can't wait to meet you and we are hoping to have a lot of fun and learn a lot about working dogs.
Thanks

I want to say thanks and to also let you know that my dog is probly not a full bred presa. I rescued him from a shelter as a "huge pit bull" as I do pit rescue. After talking with a canine officer that I worked with that had a presa I thought that might be what he was. They were going to put him under no matter what he was if I didnt take him. Needless to say I love my dog and have gone through hell and back with him this last year. I have talked with Butch and he says that dogs like Hooligan need a job and need to feel like they are being productive and I know he as the ability and intellegence to do a lot of the "work" I have heard you all talk about with the pure bred presas on this site. He wants to learn and does so quickly. I hope his "mutt" state isnt a problem. Thanks again. I look forward to meeting you as well.

Hi, I just got back from the North American Ring Association Championships (French Ring). I was able to meet Shane there. He was there with his AB. He was also the only one without a Mal or Dutch Shepherd. (Nice to meet you, Shane, if you check the board). He commented on Dave's "solid" dogs, and had a lot of knowledge to share. Some trainers just have too much attitude, too much "know it all", but this guy makes you just want to sop up his knowledge. He helped me with a lot of "hypothetical" (wink wink) questions I had. I only wish I'd checked out his flirt pole as he had some stuff with him. He mentioned the event, and anybody close should definitely go!
