Mela is a fawn male and will be 16 weeks this friday the 24th. he weighs about 37 lbs. I see all these pics of pups with huge #`s. I feed him twice a day he`s up to 2 cans and about 3 cups of dry. I use lean steak as a treat after training sessions, about 1/4 pound three time a week. Is there a rough scale as to a weight to age ratio. He seems very lean despite his appetite. I just want to make sure I`m not over or under feeding him. I know its an important balancing act to keep the bones healthy. Anyways I love the forum, you all have great dogs. I guess having just lost an amstaff to a splenic tumor I`m a little over protective of my pup.

Please dont over feed your pup. He will be just fine if you keep him so his stomach doesnt look like he swallowed a ball and you see the outline of a rib. Make sure that he does not have worms ! (if he eats alot and stays skinny this is a classic indication) Pups grow in different spurts and patterns. Some will shoot up and stop suddenly, some will grow until after two. Your dog will probably be less tha 120 at maturity. Some of these dogs are over 130. There is no max weight in the standard for the Presa (UKC) or the Dogo Canario (FIC)
but the standard does ask for a "proportionate" dog. The large dogs seem more impressive in the ring but working people prefer 110 to 120 lb. Range.

I have four pups at home from Vivi de Irema Curto and Vento de Irema Curto (from a litter of 9), they were all weighed today by vet. (Will post pics later for you) and their weights are all different. They were 16 weeks 19/09, so they are 161/2 weeks today.
female 57.32 lbs
male 61.72 lbs
male 66.13 lbs
male 68.72 lbs
There is one (with another family-female) who weighs 44.21lb. This female is smaller in weight but taller in height. All breeds of dogs have growth spurts.
As you can see there is a difference between all of these pups. I really would not worry, I would check for worms. Possible your dog is going up in height and then will stop and start to put on weight.
If you are really concerned take him to your vet and get him checked out, but as in humans no dogs grow the same, are the same height, same colour, or indeed same weight at the same age - That's what makes us all so unique and individual.
