Not too sure myself. The FCI isn't recognized/in the United States, just AKC and UKC. Not too sure how some american bred dogs would even be eligible to receive FCI paperwork, since you would have to register through another country. Hope someone with more knowledge can explain.

Wouldn't you need to live there to register there? What is the point in being registered with FCI since they are not recognized in the United States? I don't plan to go to other countries to show, but if/when I do show, I would do it in the states. I still don't fully understand. No biggie i guess.thanks for the info. How would you get paperwork to puerto rico?

fci paperwork is reconized worldwide and is the only registry availible for some breeds. its not that it isn't reconized by the usa, its more like no kennel club wishes to go by fci rules so they aren't reconized by fci. fci sets standards and policies for kennel clubs to follow. since puerto rico is a us territory they are in a sense the us. fcpr the puerto rican kc was giving the task by fci to registor us born dogs and you can initial registro any breeds that are not akc breeds. there was dicussion to hold an fcpr fci sanction show on us soil, not sure what is going on with it. but unlike many rare breed shows if a CH was obtain in an fci show it becomes part of their pedigree. this of course would all be done under the name of dogo canario as fci uses this name to reconize the breed.
