Well Hooligan got to come spend the day with mom. We went to the vet to get our rabies and blood drawn for heart worms ( I do all of his other shots but in Ks a vet has to do rabies) I was concerned that he might be a bit grummpy but he took it like a champ. So far so good. He saw a few other dogs and cats didnt try to kill anything. Then we had to go pick up a friend stranded about an hour away. And again he was a perfect gentleman. We stopped for lunch on our way back and while everyone was inside I took Hooli on a little walk.A group of guys had the regular questions and Hooligan even let the guy pet him briefly. Wow I am so impressed by our day. Time to head home and see what happens in the house. I will say that I muzzeled him for this part as the last thing I need is dead cats. I put my other dogs outside which I will admit might have been my mistake to let Hooligan in the house by himself before I introduced him to the others. He seemed to ignore the cats completly. They werent to fond of him however. So far so good...if only I could have stopped there. I had Jeremy bring in Switch my female pit mix. She is the most submissive dog in the world and Hooligan has lived with other females who were dominant and so I thought he would just love her....I couldnt have been more wrong. She was so super excited to meet a new dog and he just growled and tried to jump on her.( am I ever glad he is small for a presa) so I would correct him at let them at each other again..after awhile I culd tell she was scared so I thought I would try outside... outside she came around one more time and he was sniffing she turned around and I can honestly say that if it werent for the muzzle he might have gotten her good. I made one serrious correction with the prong and a good yell at him..he yelped and left her alone after that...they just ignored each other the rest of the day... He went back to Dereks and we are planning to try this again on the weekends...however Derek told me he is moving Oct. 14 and that he wont be taking Hooligan with him...He said either I take him Back or hell send him to the shelter... I am lost really. Can I force Hooligan to get along with the cats and Switch or am I screwed here. He loved our dogs before I dont know why he is acting this way with such a suibmissive female.
