Butch you said that Hooligan needs to know his place in the house and that giving him a job of some sort will help him to learn this place. I had at one point thought about weight pulling ...but then I see the dogs on here and he is small for his breed...and I dont have papers so can I even introduce him into any of these "sports"? Basically what would be a good area for me to start working Hooligan...I mean even if he cant compete I think he would enjoy the time with "mom" I know he loves a good car ride and running around the yard at mach speeds...but other than that Im stuped...( I was beyond surprised at how fast something that big could be)

Yes, you can weight pull without a registered dog, look up the American Pulling Alliance, on line and get all the answers you need, you can contact Todd Tripp with any queations, and he makes a great pulling harness.
We will feature weight pulling as our spotlight dog sport at the K9 PRO SPORTS world championships in Oct. It is a lot of fun, take the wheels off a wheelbarow and throw your weights in to make a cheap practice sled.
You can make OB training a lot of fun by doing things in a timed or racing set up, really fast, sit, then a heel, etc. finish with a big reward for doing a fast intense pattern.
Do retrieves and when Hooli gets the idea, use that to advance to basic search work.
Take advantage of his fondness for the car by ending whatever you do by charging, together to the car, and jumping in for a short ride around the block. Use this insted of the standard treat or tug for a reward for a job well done. I think you will be pleased at how this builds attentiveness and teamwork in your partner.
Keep me posted on Hooli and thanks for rescuing.
