This is about how we stack up in our training program, with the top dogs in the real world. Those are the military dogs that are in Iraq and Afghanistan. How do we find out??
Well,.... we send a K9PS Pro level dog to the Military Patrol & Detection Dog World championships, of course!
What? You didn't know there was such an event? Well what did you think?
Dogs saving lives in Kurdistan, or S. Africa were competing for a CGC????
Of course there is military certification and trial system!!!!
It will take place in 2 weeks in Switzerland. Active duty dogs from armies around the world will compete.
Over 200 dogs competed in the last trial including the U.S.
These are all real life tests with trials in, Rescue, urban, forest, and water, exercises.
Detection both explosives and drugs.
And of course the thriller, Patrol and Sentry competition.
The Patrol dogs will be doing little things like finding a sniper in a 100 meter square forest then holding them in a "bark & hold" and for those of you that haven't seen a military bark and hold let me assure this aint NOTHING like a ScH. B&H
There will also be an apprehension of a man in the forest that has some object like a suitcase that can be used as a weapon or barrier to the dog if they are found. When found, the dog will have 10 seconds to over come the obstacle and take charge of the suspect, who is allowed to do ANYTHING to avoid capture. This is only the tip of what is required for the dogs but will give you and idea.
So what has this got to do with how K9PS dogs do on the world stage?
Very simple, this year when the newly crowned military champion representing Denmark steps on the field they will represent not only Denmark but also K9 PRO SPORTS. You see, when off the field and out of uniform this team will be wearing a K9PS logo shirt.
The team Thomas Ravn & GSD, Devil returned from duty in Kurdistan just in time to enter the first K9PS trial in Denmark and have been ardent supporters and respected members of your orginization ever since. Currently sitting in the top 20 in the Pro division they plan on competing for the buckle at the K9PS World Finals this year.
So where does this K9PS team stack up on the world stage? We'll let you know as soon as they return from Switzerland.
