I've been getting questions about this pedigree database - Larke I accidentally deleted your message, thought I'd just let folks know, it's been undergoing some repairs and will be up and running again soon. we have 100 or so pedigrees in queue already. the goal was to get this onto a new server and get some new administrators and make photo uploading easier. it's taken some time, there were some problems but it's on its way. I think with other administrators taking care of the pedigrees it will be more of a community project and we'll be able to add more cool features. thanks for being patient and I'm glad folks are interested in using it.

Tha database is an invaluable tool. One place where people can go online and access pictures and pedigrees, health info and vital statistics. I think that it was visionary`. In the future, as more dogs, vitals, and health info are added it will be a very good tool. I think you are to be thanked and commended for the hours that you have spent on this project. I wandered around ,briefly yesterday, then got caught up in dog stuff, went to work and did not have alot of time. I am glad that we will be able to help with its maintainance. It should be a shared responsibility. Do you think we should purge all non club dogs or add more from what is available on the net ?

Dave, there is no "purge" option. I am not a believer in deleting data. I suppose if you were bound and determined you could pull a record out of other trees by setting sire and dam to unknown, but every name that happened to would have to be unique, the rule is only one dog can have the same name out of the same sire and dam and unknown parents (used to be called "adam and eve") are considered records. If that made sense...

Hey remember the person who actually thought that there were two dogs named Adam and Eve ? :D Man, that still makes me laugh ! !
As the designer and developer of the Database what are your opinion on pictures ? I believe that you only want pictures of mature dogs on there. Is that correct ?

Thanks for the reply Joe, and for your work on the database. It's a great tool, and pedigree junkies like myself enjoy looking at it, too.
The questions I asked were about adding a pedigree and adding pictures. I do think at one point you had said that all UPPCC registered dogs would automatically be added, but I may be lying.

Dave, photos will be up to you, that's your baby. I just didn't want all the work of constantly uploading new pics for people..
Larke, your pedigrees should be in the stack, just need to by typed in by somebody now
look for some progress this week and next
