I just got off the phone with UPPCC breeder Mark Gummola. Mark has Premier Grand Kennels http://www.premieregrandkennel.com/ .He called to wish me luck next weekend when I take the dogs out to meet the pigs. Mark shared the following infoabout the latest catch a Art Parkers place. 36 Dogs Competed in the Open Class. The open Class is mainly Pits, American Bulldogs, and Presas.
Mark said that UPPCC registered Presa Zain http://bessie.tv/sites/pedigree/pedigree.asp?siteid=256&description=zain&x=4&y=7 took 5th out of 36 dogs in the open Class with a catch time of 6.25 Seconds. Matt U`s dog (Bro to Oso) "Cooper" had an awesome catch but was DQ`d for a rebite. Mark says Cooper is a bad ass and a super dog !
UPPCC registered Reina http://bessie.tv/sites/pedigree/pedigree.asp?pedigreeid=735 took another first place with an incredible time of 3.89 secs and set a new pen record. ! ! Mark feels that these were the toughest hogs that he had seen at any time in the past. All hogs were tested and tagged.

I talked to Matt U. this morning as he was driving back, he was very happy with the performance of Cooper. Aunt Reina's nieces and nephews were very happy to hear of her success, LOL, good to know it's in the genes. You gotta be happy when family does good.

I am so glad that the Hog Catching season is coming back around and winter is moving out. I really like puppies and puppy pictures but I would much rather look at a Presa stoppin a pig in its tracks or taking a bite on a bad guy. The hog catching people will be a little more discreet this year, too many petanazis out there trying to cause trouble for performance events. I still look forward to some good pictures from somebody. I understand that cameras were not allowed at this event.

The Presa breed was well represented in this past comp. Reina added another win to her belt proving she is one of the best dogs out there of any breed. Zane looked very good and made an impressive catch securing himself one of the top spots. These hogs were very rough and very many dogs simply were not able to catch them...I was quite pleased with my dog Cooper's performance. He is very very new to this and after looking at the hogs I wasn't convinced he would even make a catch. He proved me wrong and had one of the hardest catch's of the night...He doesn't catch "smart" like Oso used to...he rammed that hog head on and crashed into it at full speed...he adjusted his bite for a split second and I actually yelled out DQ myself (I was later told if I didn't say anything the judges weren't actually sure if it was a rebite and they may not have DQed me...but oh well what’s fare is fare and I know I saw him rebite)...his time would have been 4.02. The comp was well run and I had a great time. Good luck Espo with your dogs when you try it, I'm sure you'll have a blast.
