Just a quick note, Bess took 1st place at the UKC snow pull in Renton, Wa. pulling 875 lbs. She weighed in at 99 lbs. and earned 10 pts. towards her Championship. Event MWP was 915 lbs. by Jake and Iz, brothers out of Victorino's Kennel. Yea Bess, she was on today, really good show!

Way to go ! ! A nice tune up for the UKC Premiere !! I am real happy to see such progress ! !
I took all three pups out training today. It was kind of a hassle but its a great club and everybody was very helpful ! Here is a Pit named Mickey, Mickey is ripped and about 4o lbs. , flies like a bird and bites like an alligator !! "Talk shit get bit" (sorry Butch) :D

Oh yeah, Mickey is a Therapy dog .....
....Having three 11 week old pups with us was quite a chore. A Gal that was there was nice enough to" handle " Tamoe during the puppy session.
They both had a good time. Later She brought out her Schnauzer and put him through the paces ...

In the last picture the Schnauzer ran up the dirt hill for a bite ! !
I have no pics of Sancho because I have not figured out how to hold on to a pissed off 125 lb dog and take pics at the same time !!!...give me a bit ....
One day I would like to compete at the same level (in protection ) that Joe does (in weight pull) . We will see what happens ! Joe, thank you for the motivation and encouragement ! !

Congratulations Joe! I would think that it would be hard to pull on snow; Tianna and Tyra have only pulled a cart but will be trying a rail in April.

Espo, the pit Mickey was at the same PSA trial I was at in San Luis Obispo and he is a little shark for sure!! Is he working on his PSA 2 now?

Cath, I`m not sure , I would guess so. I did not have the opportunity to talk alot yesterday trying to babysit three 11 week old pups and all, I did see Mickeys owner catch a few dogs and he seems to be very fluid, very nice movement. Sancho heard the dogs down on the fiield and ripped a toenial out trying to get out of his crate. I think I need to give him a bite or two when we arrive and then put him up, maybe he will calm down a little bit. He just wants to 'Play" so bad. I can hardly walk this a:m , knees and back are sore , I think that I will recover by next Saturday and I can`t wait ! I know that Joe is really looking forward to the Premier, I will do my damndest to be there to cheer for my girl Bess
and that Joe guy.

Bess had a good day yesterday, but it was a lot of work - 20 full pulls! I almost took her out for our 4 mile run this morning. Got all dressed and called her outside, she took a loooooong time getting out of bed. It was so obvious she didn't want to go, standing there in the cold and wet. Then I realized, "hey wait a minute, I don't want to go either!" So we went back inside and had a big breakfast. Bess ran back upstairs leaped up on the futon, and went out like a light. She's not even twitching.

Cathy, I suppose snow pulls are pretty rare in California. Hmmm, Tahoe would be nice for a snow pull, imagine that! :ok: Snow's a lot different than wheels and quite a bit harder. You'll probably like the rail pull, if it's set up nice. They make some racket so set the dog up near the rails so she can get used to it before going out there, if you don't get any practice time on it. Snow's really different, you gotta get the dog moving right away or the sled freezes to the ice. Also got to get them going to the side to break it loose. At the last pull I made a lot of mistakes, I think we took 1st or 2nd in our class but I left before finding out, I felt so bad at our performance. I had her pulling in a straight line, which just doesn't work on snow. Bess was really on her game yesterday, the first time I got her in the chute I put her on the line and angled her about 45 degrees of the cart, then jumped to the edge and called her and she dug right in hitting it good and hard. Then the rest of the event she lined herself up that way, she just figured it right out. It was only about the last three pulls she started losing confidence and digging in the snow. I've got my eye on an event MWP, maybe not this year but next - always hopeful!

Congrats Joe! That's really cool..! She's awesome. I feel like I know her from the posts/pics. I'm proud of her!

Enjoyed the training pics, too.

Way to go Joe and Bess! You two never stop amazing me! Hey Cathy, I grew up in San Luis Obispo and trained my first working dog there. Boy you sure get around with your dogs. Maybe when my kids get a little older I too can come out and play more!

hey Dana, thanks! No miracles here, just persistence. It helps not having a life :) After the pull Sunday I gave Bess three days off, she got to lay around the house all day just being a dog. She had NO PROBLEMS with that, lol.. This weekend we have field tracking and a UKC Obedience trial. I'm not even training, we're just going to wing it..

Today we were out at 6:30 a.m. for a four mile run. The days are getting longer quickly up here. It was so nice to be out this morning with the sun at our back, low on the horizon casting long shadows, clear skies, 39 degrees, what could be better?
