hi Butch. i was hoping to get some input as to the best way to introduce my new male into the family.
my female Pharus is well socialized, but very dominant. she has been very spoiled and has always had my attention, as i work at home.
i also know my new male Minus , coming straight from the Canary Islands is a dominant animal, with a very Strong temperment.
how would you suggest the best way to make this adddition as smooth as possible? thanks in advance.

If you are bringing a new pup (7-16 weeks) You should have no problem from your female, she will recognise it as a baby and accept it pretty easily. She can still teach a few doggy manners, in a way that may seem harsh to humans, but it works for dogs. You really should have no trouble with a young pup.

If the pup is older then it may best to introduce them in a neutral territory. Take the pup to a park, or place your female is not used to, and bring them together. The pup will be disoriented and insecure enough from the change of enviroment and will be looking for a little security. This will make him more likely to submit to the female who will also not have a great a need to be defending her "home turf" from a strange intruder.

The younger the pup the easier all will adapt. Most dogs will work out problems if humans don't interfere. But that is usally hard for us to do since negotiations in dog speak can sound more serious than they really are.

Try that and good luck.
