Here is a definition of discrimination so it is perfectly clear. Discrimination is . . . . . "differential treatment of an individual on the basis of the individual's actual or presumed membership in or association with some class or group of persons, rather than on the basis of personal merit"
The UPPCC was formed to promote,preserve and protect the Perro de Presa Canario in traditional name and color. We have accomplished this.
With the UKC there will be national,regional,and plentiful conformation, and "working" activities for owners of the Presa Canario. The UPPCC WILL NOT DISCRIMINATE . It has occurred to us that this breed is a very functional animal and a jog around a ring a few times a year may not cut it for enthusiasts. The UPPCC will accept your Presa Canario or Dogo Canario in our club. We do not care if you are registered with a Dogo for ARBA shows, A Presa for UKC events, or ,whatever. It has occurred to us that we may have members (and certainly do) that have interests in conformation as well as weight pull, protection,agility,and obedience. The UKC provides a venue for ALL of these activities. Any dog accepted for registration with the UPPCC will be known,in our group,as a Presa Canario. Dual registry is a reality in the dogworld. We will not attempt to control your activities outside of your acceptance into the UPPCC. UKC recognition has already had a dramatic impact on our registrations, where we used to register 25 dogs a quarter (100 dogs a year) we are now registering 25 every month. Our specialty in September is a club event,our first one, we want to dedicate this time to getting to know OUR members and educating them. The UPPCC will certainly Sponsor "Open" class events in the future. We have already been very succesful in the other venues, and we will continue to be. We have nothing to fear.
Our membership dues is very reasonable, and we are very reasonable,do yourself a favor join the UPPCC. (and do whatever the hell else you want to do with your dog !)
