My favorite picture is the one where you are clapping and encouraging Bessie to pull ! ! It looks like hard work ! !I hope to see more working pics fill the album of El Presa ! ! I hope that you don`t mind, I took the liberty of resizing it,cropping it,and enhancing it, we needed a little more light on her face but at least you can see that her ears are up in the air, she must have been really straining !

DOES WEIGHT PULLING HURT OR OVER-CONDITION THE DOG?

I have never seen a dog injured by weight pulling. When I say never, I am thinking back across thirty years of weight pulls and several contests each year with sometimes over a hundred dogs entered in a single event. The added attention and regular moderate to heavy exercise is good for the healthy dog. If you have any doubts about your dog's health, have it checked even if it isn't a canine athlete. The worker will be harder, tighter and more fit and not over-developed in any area by pulling. I had a dog with "loaded" shoulders, but the dog had the condition before it ever saw a harness.

Hope this helps
;)

On the contrary, I think it would build more muscle, endurance, speed and lung capacity.

The guy with the #1 100 lb. class dog in the world explained it to me. "Weight pulling is an anerobic sport. You train to put out maximum effort for 60 seconds." He also mentioned that his dogs really bulk up when he's doing drag training (dragging weights on the ground). I can attest to this.

So in terms of human sports it's probably closest to power lifting. For keeping in aerobic shape you need to include lots of running activities. We ride the scooter, go jogging, and hiking from Spring-Autumn.

Hey, hiking season is almost here! Yea!!
