Those pics are really cool!
Unfortunately in Italy weight pulling is not so popular as in US..

Yeah, those pics were pretty cool. Seems like a first rate setup. Are competitions judged also by the type of surface the weight is pulled on and what kind of surface the dog has for traction? 1000 lbs. here might not pull the same as 1000 lbs. there if you know what I'm trying to say.

Great pictures Joe!
Tianna just received her IWPA WP1 this weekend. I was proud of her because we haven't done much training at all in the last six months and she gave it her all. :) You need 12x body weight at four different pulls to get a IWPA title. What are the requirements for UKC weight pull title? Do all pulls have to be off leash and voice command at UKC pulls?

Hey Fred,
There are three types of pulls, snow, wheels, and rails, and they're not to be compared to each other (snow's the hardest, rails easiest), and results from different events are not to be compared with each other, simply for the reasons you've pointed out, the surface and equipment changes each time. You pack your bearings good and overinflate the tires and every dog's gonna set a personal best that day. What's important is POINTS. Points are what get you ranked and on your way to Nationals. This is how the points works at IWPA:
+0.5
Last place dog if not in 1st 3 positions
+1.0
For each dog beat that successfully pulled.
1.0
For 3rd place
3.0
For 2nd place
5.0
For 1st place
Hope that makes more sense!
Hey Cathy - Congratulations!!! You seem to beat me to everything :) We're closing in on our Working Dog Excellent, one more pull at 18% clinches it. Bess is really smokin, gave me two 165# drag pulls today. She's also hooking up without me saying anything, I just stand there and whamo! she hits it. Re. UKC, they're easier than IWPA for your initial title, you need 10% in four events. Beyond that it gets more complicated, hold on I'm looking for the link.....
